Shirley is currently completing a filmography of Doc Holiday: When the Dealing's Done is expected to be completed in 2012. In collaboration with the tribal counsel, her History of the Chickasaw Nation should be available soon. Future projects include upcoming history conference presentations as well as work on papers concerning Ben Milam and John Chisum.

 

 

Mythical West is owned and operated by Historian, Researcher and Writer … Shirley Ayn Linder. Shirley is an M.A. graduate from the University of New Mexico in History of the U.S. West. Her B.A., also from UNM, is in Journalism and English, with a minor in U.S. History. While at UNM she served in both associate and assistant editor capacities for The New Mexico Historical Review.

A native of Tennessee, Shirley lived in New Mexico from 1978 until her graduation, when she became film librarian for the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, and was further associated with them as Oral History and Special Projects Research Consultant. She has over six years of experience teaching at a University level. Shirley also provides editorial and historic accuracy consultation for individuals, and film producers while offering liason between persons and associations requiring audio or videotaping of interviews, conferences and other events.

Her work has appeared in Journal of the West, True West, The Cavalry Institute Journal, NOLA Quarterly and Western History Quarterly. Ms. Linder has presented numerous papers at various historical conferences, most recently the PCA/ACA National Conference. She served as a Spur Award judge and assisted with other western history events. She has received an aggregate of honors, grants and awards for her research and writing and is a member of Western Writers of America, Western History Association, PCA/ACA and the Historical Society of New Mexico.

Employed in professional services and management for many years prior to her return to college, Shirley has additional experience in public relations, personal interviewing, accurate audio/video transcription and professional manuscript preparation.

Shirley’s education and background provide her with the skills to perform in various fields and at many levels. Her personality enables her to interact with people of all ages and cultures, while her dedication to confidentiality and expeditious treatment of materials makes her an asset to any project.
